Until this moment, we encountered lots of things as a group and several particular details, in doing so, we used this two skills we learnt which is teamwork and time management.
Teamwork is a really hard dexterity to attain, but we slowly developed by time. We were given teams for several reasons. It helps us learn how to cooperate, it gives us the benefit to work with our friends, it relates to becoming proficient in time management, the point is, it helped us understood that teamwork is not only the answer to our problems but it can also mould ourselves into a different person.
Time management is the thing we struggled mostly with fro last year til' now. Being in a group means we have to meet up regularly to do after-school tasks and extra study for tests and research. We need to manage the time for other subjects, projects and also time for ourself and when we would be able to meet up. However, if we can’t meet up, we can still study online together. Technology helped us a lot through this learning process, it improves studies and communication. The facilitator showed us a lot of learning tactics using technology. He taught us how to research and how to explain sentences with depth.
History relates with a lot of things in life. When we jump behind us towards the past, we pass by a lot of people. The rich, poor, survivors, leaders, prisoners and slaves. We learned a lot from all those people around us, and a lot of them inspired us. Humans are like the solar system, we revolve around each other and without realizing they teach us few life lessons that we could bring with us not only in life.
The rich: be humble enough to share your blessings with others.
The poor: be brave enough to be able to push your self to the limits.
Survivors: There will be times when things get rough or times when you get pushed down, but all you have to do stand back up again.
Leaders: I do not create followers. I create leaders who thinks differently.
Prisoners: Sometimes making a mistake doesn't mean shame. It just mean you're human.
Slaves: Make the best of what you have cause you never know when you'll lose it.
Several other people: Sometimes when you're surrounded by perfect people, you start to notice the beauty in flaws.
The thing that is most useful to us is the way each of us learn. We learn differently, but that is not a bad thing. The facilitator told us that all people has his/her own learning styles/ways. He also told us to use our own studying methods and it could help us get outstanding results.
Aside from that, he introduced us to one of the things we’ll remember for a lifetime, ‘kaizen’. As far as we know, ‘kaizen’ is japanese for “improvement” or “change for the best”. It’s such a simple word, and it is easy to pronounce. This makes it easier to remember. There are a lot of meaning behind the word ‘kaizen’. Kaizen is a good change. I’ve learnt that everything could change. In to the better, or worst. Living and nonliving things can change. We can improve ourselves into a better person. We can improve our learning skills. We can improve our skills (art skills, learning skills, business, strategies, etc.).
Here are some Kaizen Principles to help us improve our performance:
- SEIRI- Sort, Clear Out
- Clear out the things in your mind, meditate for a while, this will help you move around freely and breathe easily.
- SEITON- Set Things in Order
- Put everything in order, wouldn’t it be much easier to find. Set your thoughts straight and be organized.
- SEISO- Clean and Shine
- Build pride in yourself, but don’t get too confident either, find the inner you and this will appeal to the way you feel about yourself.
We still have a long journey to go through, therefore, we still have time to improve on a lot of things. Never be tired to learn something new. Never be tired to improve, nobody is perfect.
Initiative
- asking why instead of what
When you ask why, it means you’re engaged to the topic and you want to learn deeper. We ask why instead of what because it gives more information towards the topics. Why did somebody do something will explain more and we will be able to learn more. Not only knowing what the somebody did and even though we know what he did, it is still important for us to know what really happened and why it did.
- Challenging the Idea
It is not about limiting the challenge of your idea, it is about challenging the limits of your idea. When you look at an idea, you would want to challenge yourselves, ask questions about it as so you would understand the concept completely and deeply, it’s a creative way to engage yourselves in challenging ones idea. In human brains, when challenging an idea is to engage its thinking. To
- Self-discipline
Self-discipline has a lot to do with learning. How do you learn if you don’t discipline yourself to get engaged? Don’t just goof around doing nothing, make some progress, it might help you in your struggles as well because it helps you to bulk up your knowledge and improves your work. It moulds yourself into a better person.
- Leadership
Leadership is by far one of the most important key, having the title of a leader is one thing but to lead a group takes it into another level. The key to being a good leader is to remember that you are not the most important person in the room, be humble enough to be able to admit your mistakes and to have courage but not rude.
