This year, we were introduced to higher order thinking skills, based on bloom's . These help us to understand a lesson fully and prepare for a test step by step. We were graded based on these.
- Knowledge - Identification and recall of information
- In this first step, we should know the topic. We have to think about the 5Ws and 1H. Some questions regarding this step:
- Define
- Fill in the blank
- Memorization
- Underline
- Label
- Comprehension - Organization and Selection of Facts and Ideas
- In this step, we have to think deeper into the question. We should prepare few facts and ideas to support our answer. We should be able to comprehend these facts for questions like “What if the difference between….” or “What is the main point of…” . Some questions regarding this step are
- Fill in the blank
- Put in order
- Explain
- Rewrite
- Summarize
- Application - Use of facts, rules and principles
- After selecting the facts and ideas from the previous step, we simply use it to support our answer. We should know how it works or how we can relate to that in real life. That way, it will seem more reliable and believable. Some questions regarding this steps:
- Demonstrate
- Give an example
- Solve
- Show
- Construct
- Analysis - Separating a whole into component parts
- A huge bunch of information would just be nonsense if put together. We should split the information into smaller sub-topics to make the point more comprehensible thus clear.
- Synthesis - Combining ideas to form a new whole
- Evaluation - Developing opinions, judgements, and or decisions.
