Discussion and Reflection:
France
Much of the war had taken place in France. The damage to France was staggering: 75000 homes and 23000 factories had been destroyed. One and a half million young French men had died. Clemenceau wanted to punish Germany for this, and he wanted to make sure France was safe from another attack.

Britain
Lloyd George wanted to make a fair settlement. He agreed with many of Wilson’s (The American President) fourteen points. But the British were demanding that Germany be harshly punished.

The Terms
The Germans thought these terms were very unfair, but the two German representatives knew that if they refused to sign the Allies would start the war again. Many Germans never forgave the new German government for this. As you can see, it was not long before some of the problems caused by the terms of the Treaty were becoming clear.

On 28 June 1919, the treaty of Versailles was signed

Who Was To Blame For War?
Practically, the germans was blamed for the war and they accepted all the blame for starting the war in a “war guilt”.

Consequences For German:
They resented for being blamed for the war and felt like they were being blamed because they did not win the war. the representatives of germain said,  “An admission that we alone are guilty is a lie.”

Homework:
Depth Research Next Week. Make A Drive on that
